Werewolves and Skills

Handiness

  • Waning Gibbous: x2.5 stat use multiplier, +7 effective skill modifier
  • Emotion: Focused

Werewolves break things. A lot. Your werewolf’s first rampage is sure to leave broken appliances in its wake, and werewolves seem to have a small chance to break any appliance they use, even in human form. Naturally, you’re gonna want to invest in Handiness.

When you’re not dealing with broken objects, the woodworking table is a profitable, fun, and flavorful way to use and raise handiness.

Fishing

  • Lunar Phase: New Moon, Quarter Moon, Full Moon
  • Lunar Effect: +5 effective skill modifier
  • Emotion: Focused

Just like in the Sims 3, werewolves can eat raw fish! It’s one of the few things, other than the red meat obtained from hunting, that Carnivore werewolves can safely consume. Fishing is also one of the skills that counts towards “self-sufficiency” in the Moonwood Collective, alongside gardening and cooking.

Logic

There's nothing super synergistic about the logic skill and werewolves... but it gives you lots of good excuses to look at the moon in a telescope, and isn't that enough? It also means that Nerd Brain is a suprisingly good aspiration for werewolves.

In addition, the Waning Crescent gives werewolves one of the biggest boosts to reading speed in the game. It stacks with the Speed Reader reward trait and the increase in reading speed from having at least two levels in Research and Debate. This makes the Waning Crescent the best time to read werewolf books (to unlock Lunar Epihpany, unlock secret recipes + the underground statue secret, gain werewolf exp, and gain "self-improvement" progress as a Wildfang) and skill books. Werewolves the only occult, aside from spellcasters with the "Knowledge is Magic" perk, that get any kind of innate boost to reading speed.

Fitness

Fitness plays a part in the outcome of werewolf spars and brawls. Fitness activities also count towards the Wildfang's "self improvement" goal. (I verified this with Rory, since her Ambitious trait causes her to get a visible moodlet every time she fufills pack goals.)

On the New Moon, sleeping gives werewolves a +1 Energized moodlet that lasts 7 hours upon waking up.

Stacking these effects with more Energized and Happy moodlets can further make the most of your Waxing Crescent workout routine. Completing a hunt, for example, gives you a +1 Energized [Hunter's Stride] moodlet that lasts two hours. Eating the raw meat aquired from hunting then gives the werewolf a +1 Happy [Fresh Meat!] moodlet that lasts three hours, on top of a +1 Happy [Pretty Tasty] moodlet that lasts four hours.

While it's not as good as the boost gained from Energized, note that Hot-headed sims benefits to their fitness skill while angry, and werewolves can't be killed by their own anger like most sims.

Toddler Skills

NPC dialogue in Moonwood Mill states that werewolf toddlers “always develop motor skills quickly, but it can be a challenge to potty train them.” I’m trying to hunt down any code related to this. Teaching werewolf toddlers to howl is confirmed to slightly contribute to their Communication skill. It's not efficient compared to conventional toddler-raising methods, but it is adorable.
